A father's day gift from my wonderful woman. The bass pro "HEAT" series fly rods for bass , pike , musky and saltwater mangrove fishing situations. What a sick rod to say the least!!! I have had some good hours out on champlain with this rod and it's got some punch!!! LCI weekend had me with a 3.25lb 18.25 inch long ditch pickle! I am useing the sage bass taper fly line with this set up which is the equal to an 11 wt line. For a 7ft 10 inch rod over load is good. It packs heat and when you need to give that bass a Mike Tyson upper cut to drag em out of the thickest of cover. On the phone with my brother yesterday I had told Dave I was going to chase some bass....smallies in particular. He made me promise to dedicate the 3rd fish to him. Never let brother down...sometimes things happen that are out of your control but it's when this happens that you know you have a real friend. Here you are .....with the FENNY. Great fight and the cool thing was whatever it had just ate was well...still squirming in it's stomach! Love that shit!!! Tight lines and remember Dave they are only getting bigger for next year mate!!!

I like flyfishing with fiberglass. My bass fishing is alot more fun with these ole boys! They were good enough for Dad and Gramps there good enough for you! The feel and the fight feel it's par none! I caught 18inch smallie tonite on the Fenwick 8wt FF85 a real sweet rod and topped off with a Pflueger rim control reel 8-10wt model. If you get a chance to do a vintage run or pic up a fiberglass rod..do it. It is alot of fun and you just may find another addiction...I did! Yak Floats and Cat puke!

Well it was a warm ass day from the pits of hell...great bass weather..well for me. Brian and I set out at 1pm and killed it at 7:30 pm. Yep short float lots of fishing...cigars and laughs! Smallies and whitefish were everywhere. Clouser's , crease flies and Dave's cat pukes in my version nailed em good. I stuck with the crayfish version and Brian liked the top water stuff. Both were taking fish. Finding more fish in the head and tail outs high sticking and swinging worked for me. If you have a place like I do that is chocked full of bass...float it...explore you don't know what may be around the next bend. We found some slow sections and some really surprising sections as well. Been a while since I had been in a yak. Can't say I am a convert yet but I liked it for sure! Plenty of forage food as we saw dace, frogs, damsels and dragons, stoneflies and big river caddis. I wish i had some pics but my damn battery was as dead as a door nail. Instead I will give a look at where we were fishing through last years float...tight lines bassers and get at em!!! If you double click the photo you will see some whitetail deer....enjoy!

Been on a gurgler kick. I love to tie these guys. Fished with a heavy weed guard climax 100lb test. 100lb test your thinking WTF! Well tossin in the cabbage patch is alot easier for me with a tough weed guard. I also have learned from experience...you may miss some fish but the real aggressive bass and usually bigger boys and girls will push 100lb test right outta the way to eat the shit outta your fly. This is something I have just learned through trial and error. This picture is the pink version which worked friggin fantastic tonite! Rain for Sunday...cups of coffee and more top water bugs on the menu from the vise. Chill time in the man cave.....may turn on some Luarel and Hardy and have a laugh! Tight Lines and enjoy!!

Saw plenty of this over the past week with Dave....ahh plenty of top water action. Stout leaders and heavy weed guards and the sage largemouth rod tossin bass bugs into the thick lily pads and cattails. Good weather has made for some great early morning and evening fishing! Tying bugs at nite and fishing them the next day...shit life don't get much better!

A week of top water bass bugging for largemouth's and some smallies kicked in. Dave has turned his aim on bass bugs and the like now! Truly addictive fly fishing when they are in the tight stuff and you stick a big ole bucket mouth. Gurgler's and frogs with weed guards and spun deer hair bugs...can't beat it.....thanks to Pat Cohen for the great bass bugs...we enjoyed them alot!!!

Hi all. Created a blogg just for sunfish family's and all things related. I have also run pike adventures so be sure to check that blogg out as well.
